5K for our 5Boys Race Description

On May 8th, 2015 at 6:14 pm, a tragic car accident changed the Macomb community forever. We lost 3 precious lives: Michael Wells, Jonathan Manolios, and Emanuel Malaj. The night ended with Joseph Narra and Gregory Bobchick in the hospital fighting for their lives. To honor and in memory of the boys involved in the crash, on June 14th, 2015 we would like to gather as a community for the 5 young men through a 5K walk and fundraiser at Oakgrove park in Stoney Creek Park. There will be entertainment, games, food and music after the walk is completed. Your donation for this event will include a T-shirt, bottle of water, and a raffle ticket for a chance to win multiple prizes. WE ARE HONORED AND PROUD TO ANNOUNCE THAT 50% of PROCEEDS WILL BE DONATED TO D.A.R.E, drug abuse resistance education and DRIVERS EDGE PROGRAM, which addresses your driver education. For more info

Not Sure

I feel that maybe the families of these victims would do a much better thing by doing presentations at the local high school(s) than raising money for what exactly?? These families already had GoFundMe accounts set up raising over 15K, how much more money do you need? Lives were lost, I get it, but at this point it seems soley about the money aspect. I hope you give the money to MADD!!

Drunk driving

While this was a tragic accident, I'm not sure that honoring drunk drivers is appropriate.

Stupid idea

This race is very stupid. They were teens that were stupid that were drinking and driving. It was their fault and we should not raise awareness for them.

Annoyed

After reading Greg and Joe and friends & family Twitter b4 and after they blocked. Funny nothing is ever private. I find this inappropriate. Hopefully this money does go to a charity and not greg or joes parents pockets! Be carefull what you donate!

Are you for real

Underage drinking & driving SHOULD NOT BE REWARDED OR PROMOTED and that is EXACTLY what this race is doing! YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF YOURSELVES

also annoyed

it's a tragedy for sure but maybe if these parents would have been proactive with their kids they wouldn't have to reactive with their deaths.

Raising awareness for drunk drivers?

We should not be raising awareness for teens who drive drunk..

Ms.

This is a wonderful idea to raise awareness for seat belt use and safe teen driving. To all the cruel people commenting on this: bashing a CHARITY FUNDRAISER does not make you look too good. The families are trying to do the best they can to make something positive out of the tragedy. I expect full support from the community. GREAT IDEA

For all the negative people...

Stop the negativity. Stop the hate. Everyone acts like they've never done stupid things in there lives.. They all act like they're God's gift & like they've never done anything wrong.. We all make mistakes & we should accept it with open arms and move forward, this 5k is a great way to spread awareness <3 God bless & learn to accept
