(race date estimated)5th Annual Pey it Forward Fun Run Race Description
The Pey it Forward Fun Run was created in honor of Peyton Nicole Evans. Peyton went to Heaven unexpectedly on May 16th, 2014 at the young age of 15. When our community learned of her being rushed to the hospital so many immediately began performing countless acts of kindness such as prayer, fundraisers, candlelight vigils and much more. We will continue to honor her legacy by giving back to this amazing community. Registration will begin at 8 a.m. and the run/walk will begin at 9 a.m. The course will be between 1 and 2 miles long and this fun filled event will have several obstacles throughout the course. You can choose to do the obstacles or you can walk or run past them. It's completely up to you! There will be a few wet inflatables so you may want to bring a towel and/or a change of clothes. Awards will be issued to the first three finishers immediately following the run.The proceeds this year will be issued to two amazing local families as well as a local charity on the day of the event .Kimberly's Center for Child Protection is a non profit organization that serves children who have been alleged as victims of child abuse or neglect. They offer a variety of services to these children at no cost. Cole Tumey, 18, was born with renal failure and was given a kidney at age 2 by his mother. Although the normal kidney expectancy is 7-10 years, his mother’s kidney has lasted 15! Unfortunately around New Years this year Cole and his family learned that the kidney was declining and had to be removed. Cole was sent home with no kidney at all to await a donor. He was active on the transplant list, but this could take years. After many prayers and pleas for help from his family, Cole recently learned that a young woman by the name of Amber Ferguson was tested and is a match to be his donor! We would like to make a small dent in his medical costs by donating a portion of the proceeds to him. Julia Kain is a beautiful, sweet spirited young lady who was diagnosed with a very rare disease at age 11. Niemann Pick disease, type C, or NPC is a neurodegenerative disease that has no cure and very limited and costly treatment options. The disease robs affected children of the ability to walk, talk, eat, and hear. Julia is involved in experimental treatments that her parents hope will slow the progression of the disease. We would like to make a contribution to this special family as well. After the proceeds are distributed the fun doesn't end here. We will transition into Family Awareness Day hosted by New Life Family Church. This is a time for fellowship with free food, carnival games, and much more. We hope to see you there!
