Allie Cat 5k Memorial Race Description

After much discussion, we are back with the Allie Cat Memorial run/walk. The Allie Cat 5K is in memory of my sister Allison West, aka Allie cat or Rosie by those closest to her. Allie was diagnosed in November of 2019 with AML (Acute Myloid Leukemia) where it was already quite advanced. It was a long hard fought journey of never giving up and wanting her life to have purpose, I was in the room when Allie told the doctors to use her to learn more about AML as it is not common in a female, let alone a 23 year old female. Allie spent over a month in Marshfield and then came home for about a month and that was the last time Allie was ever home. Allie went on to Madison to do a stem cell transplant donated by our brother. Allie then went into a coma just before her 24th birthday where she was in the coma for a month. Allie fought without much complaint, she kept stating God is with me. Because of the coma a trachea had to be put in so Allie could breath, her lungs were severely damaged from RSV. Allie struggled with not being able to talk or sing, it took a mental toll on her and the fact that she rarely ever felt good. On May 23, 2020 Allie went to be with her JESUS!

In her memory we are doing a run/walk to raise money for another family fighting this awful disease and to raise money to send kids to Camp Chetek, a christian summer camp for kids that Allie attended herself and where she accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior.

This past year we were able to send money to a little girl named Natalie, who also had AML but at the age of 2, her and Allie were both in Madison at the same time. Natalie passed away a couple of months after our first 5k. We were able to send about 12 kids to camp along with our local church, that is so awesome!!

So this run/walk is all about getting together and having a good time remembering Allie and helping those around us, because that's what Allie would do. Allie didn't care about where you came from, your color, your religion, she cared about you and if you had children, she cared for them like they were her own and if you had pets well you should probably lock them up or she would take them home, she had such a love for all things kids and pets.

So please, come join us for a great time in remembering and making new memories!
