Online Registration Is Now Open! Be a Hero to a Hero 5K Fun Run/Walk -3:00 PM November 21, 2015. Location: McHenry County College Sign-up for great cause at our Be a Hero to a Hero 5K Fun Run/Walk to support veterans. Dress as your favorite superhero to enter our costume contest for cash prizes! Once the race is over, awards based on overall race winner, best times per age category M/F and kids will be handed out at MCC including the winner of the kid's costume contest. Free snacks, water, and hot chocolate will be available on site. Get your costume here! The after party and festivities continue at Finn McCool's in Crystal Lake. The winner of our adult costume contest 21+ will be announced. Redeem your drink ticket and enjoy other great food and drink specials! DJ and Dancing start at 9 PM. The race will benefit A Warrior's Mind. They are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization designed to help veterans return to their civillian life and prevent them from committing suicide by supporting them with various services and financial help. A percentage of the proceeds will go to a local family here in McHenry county who just lost their loved one to suicide and will help care for his 2 daughters and wife. This point to point 3.1 certified course run starts at McHenry County College and finishes at McHenry County College. The course is flat, paved, and fast. Where to park: Parking: There is ample parking right by the start/finish area at the college. Headphone Policy, Stroller Policy, and Pet Policy: The safety of all participants is our primary concern and devices such as headphones, iPhones/iPods and strollers can cause problems along the course. Please consider running or walking in this event WITHOUT the use of these devices. Should you elect to use one of these devices, do so with caution and be respectful of other participants.
