(race date estimated)Bear Lake Brawl Triathlon - Half & Full Race Description
The USAT Bear Lake Brawl Triathlon is one of the best triathlons in Utah for course and layout. Bear Lake is one of the bluest lakes in Utah often called the Caribbean of the rockies. This course is fairly flat with farm roads and during an off peak season for tourism so it increases safety. The bike course goes completely around the lake.

EXTREMELY poor organization
In 2016, the swim buoys floated away DURING the swim. In 2018, they only placed one buoy 0.6 miles away where you couldn't see it and we swam back directly into the sun. They also had all lengths start along the same path line, so you had to swim through waves of swimmers coming towards you. I avoided a head-on collision, but several of my friends weren't so lucky. The bike was along bumpy roads with cars speeding past at 55mph+ and NO shoulder. The run is along a dusty road with no shade.

Terrible organization
I am the wife of a runner. Not chip times. Aid stations didn’t say what they said they would have. Markers for routes were not well seen. What they did have looked old and gross. No water bottles only cups. No organization. Run was on a gravel road that they didn’t even wet down to get rid of dust. Cattle guard not covered that was almost tripped on by everyone.

Race was great except it was cold in September. Race manager did an awesome job. Swim portion got messed up and the swim was long but hey--accidents happen. Otherwise well done for a local race.

It's been a 35 year old journey doing my 1st iron tri at 60. I went through stuff to get there, and went through it when I was there. The promoter went through it too! Codos to the volunteers I love to bits. STUFF HAPPENS. Iron men deal with it, learning is the journey. I swam with an astigmatism and two wonderful sisters were my markers. They met me on the run. And they will make it next time. To the couple maning a run booth late in the night and others as well cheering me on. Guy who ran w me

Awesome race. Good weather, water cold at beach, but warm once you got away from the beach. Perfect weather and good support all the way through, they continued to check on us and have drinks and support into the night. Would do it again and will recommend to others.
