Castle Country Century Race Description

Participants of the Castle Country Century start their ride in the mountain town of Scofield, at an elevation of 7,700 ft.  The ride begins with the first of two grueling ascents, heading out of Scofield to Clear Creek as a warm up, prior to the climb to the top of Eccles Canyon, where road grades reach 12% and elevations climb to 9,400 feet.

Riders then make a small descent and work their way around the north end of Electric Lake and in to Huntington Canyon, where they will make their second and final major ascent to the top of Huntington Canyon, where road grades stay under 10% as elevation climbs to 9,780 feet.

Following the summit of Huntington Canyon, riders descend over 40 miles and go around the south end of Electric Lake, as they work their way into the town of Huntington.

Here there will be a Aid Station that provides a light catered lunch for riders. Traditonally, we have provided a dinner the night before the race this year we opted to give riders a light lunch providing the riders a longer break before completeing the arid desert region of this ride.

After passing through Huntington, riders meander along the outskirts of the San Rafael Swell and through the rural communities of Cleveland and Elmo.

After Cleveland and Elmo, riders make their way through Wellington to the finish line in Price.

We will provide a shuttle from the Greenwell Inn to the Starting line day of the race so you can leave your vehicle in Price. Likewise we will provide a shuttle back to Scofield after the ride back to your vehicle.
