The Cougs vs Cancer Run is a proud annual tradition at BYU, now in its 30th year! The event is an exciting 5k with a route that goes all throughout BYU campus. 100% of ALL PROCEEDS go to fund BYU student cancer research fellowships through the BYU Simmons Center for Cancer Research. The race honors Rex E. Lee, former President of BYU and founding Dean of the J. Reuben Clark Law School, who passed away from cancer in 1996.
Throughout the many years of this race, our mission remains the same: to raise funds for full-time student cancer research fellowships, providing BYU undergraduate and graduate students the chance to begin their careers as the next generation of cancer clinicians and researchers.

Fun run, inspiring cause!
I loved this run! I ran the 10k, and it was a smooth course around Provo. The spirit and atmosphere at the race are contagious, and I'm a big supporter of the cause. 100% of proceeds go to cancer research.

Great run Fun and a good family atmosphere. Be prepared to run a steep incline for the first two miles. The last four are all down hill. Good luck and don't forget the massage and treats after the race.
Bring your family, stay for the fair!
I've only run the 10K once, but I've volunteered three times, and I loved both! The atmosphere is the best part, with lots of families doing the 1K and 5K, and the fair is the best (free stuff, yay)! I like that there didn't seem to be much traffic between runners and strollers/walkers etc. The coolest part about this race is that it supports BYU students doing cancer research at the Simmons Center, but second to that is how open they are to feedback if you just email them--always improving!
Fun for the whole family, and for a great cause!
My favorite thing about this race is everyone can participate. From the mom pushing a baby in a stroller to the hardcore athlete. Everyone is there to support a loved one who has battled cancer. I hear next year you get to run through campus! How cool is that?! I love seeing the BYU celebrities (basketball team, Coach Rose, BYU Sports Nation). The carnival after is super fun with lots of swag. All to support cancer research and BYU students. Awesome. Go cougs!
