Why drive to Eureka, NV for the Dig Deep Back Roads Run??
- After a year of virtual and cancelled events this is an actual in-person event. There will be strangers and a PA system and a bib and a course (one you didn't design that will be questionably marked and longer than advertised) and a line at 7:58 for too few bathrooms and bananas and a time clock and banners and champagne and someone to pass and someone who will pass you and someone with a cow-bell cheering you on and a medal and photographic evidence that you can and did.
- Your race registration doubles as your entry fee for the local Wine, Art and Music festival being held that afternoon. Another event showcasing Nevada artists and musicians and our beautiful, historic downtown. All proceeds of both Dig Deep and the Wine walk go to support Eureka Restoration Enterprise a local non-profit committed to the restoration and revitalization of Eureka and the support of Nevada artists.
- As advertised you will need to Dig Deep. Starting at an elevation of 6,400' deep. Extreme elevation gain in a mile deep. Minimal shade deep. Dirt roads deep. But the deeper you dig the more rewarding the finish will be!
- It's a great mini vacation. Bring the family and while you're bargaining with yourself over how much farther or faster you can run they can enjoy the 1-mile(ish) stroll down the tree-lined streets past Eureka's most beautiful and historic buildings. Restored and dilapidated alike, these treasures tell the story of Nevada's boom and bust silver and gold rush. This mostly flat route should have them back just in time to cheer you on as you sweat down the home stretch.
- You need this.

Join us in Central Nevada as we Dig Deep mentally and physically. This back roads 5K(ish) or 10K(ish) run will test your resolve and your stamina. Your adventure begins in the heart of Eureka, NV at a mere 6,486'. Yep...you read that correctly we're going to send you out of the gate at 6,468 feet above sea level. After that its up to you if you want to do the quick 5K(ish) or the longer 10K(ish) loop. Either way more elevation (and a good amount of dirt) is in your future! Both courses will take you up, up, up where you will enjoy panoramic views of the 1800's historic ghost town, the beautiful Nevada mountains that surround it and a chance to catch your breath (if you can?)! It's (mostly) downhill from there...time to stretch out those legs and set a PR on your way back to the Start/Finish Line. Once you're done relax on the lawn enjoying refreshments, music and of course a finishers mimosa! Cheer on your other participants as they finish and help us give a big "Man! You're fast" to the top over-all male, female and under 21 in both lengths. It's a chance to explore a new area, meet some new people and break free of the routine! Afterwards check out the area sites, like the local charcoal kilns, and finish out the day at the art fair and wine walk.
The fun doesn't stop there though...your $50 registration to the run (and your medal *hint, hint*) double as your entry fee to the local Wine, Art and Music festival being held that afternoon showcasing Nevada artists and beautiful, historic Eureka, NV.
Come for the race, stay for the weekend, take in the art, wine and history and make some history of your own!

Most Helpful Review
Well...I finished
This was (as promoted) a VERY difficult run. But it was a fun event and when I made it back to the beginning I truly felt like I had accomplished something! I will do it again (and again if available)! I highly encourage anyone who wants a good challenge or just someone looking to try something different to come on out and join me!
