Younique 10 Year 10K: Break the Silence Benefit Run for Saprea

Frequently Asked Questions

What if I registered but can no longer participate?

Like most running and sporting events, we have a no-refund policy. Please refer to our Registration Policy that you must agree to when registering for any of our events.

Can I switch races?

You can switch races from the 10K to the 5K if the transaction is within the posted deadlines and guidelines.

What if the weather report predicts rain or extreme heat on race day?

While we prefer a beautiful day, the summer weather in Salt Lake City is unpredictable. The event will proceed rain or shine.

Are individuals allowed to walk the race?

Yes. You can walk the 10K or 5K.

What are the course time limits?

There is no time limit.

Does my young child need to register?

All participants must be registered. Please note that children under the age of seven are not eligible to participate in the event.

Can I register on race day?

You can register on race day for either the 5k or 10k race. However, we highly recommend registering in advance or at our pre-race packet pickup on the Wednesday before the race. Online registration is available up until and on race day. Race day registration and pickup lines tend to be long. If you wait until race day to register, you risk missing the race start. We don't want you to travel to the race and not be able to start on time. Please plan ahead and arrive early.

You should arrive at race day registration at Memory Grove Park at least 60 minutes before your race to allow time for a comfortable registration process, warm up, and starting line up.

Is the course closed?

Yes. Runner safety is our top priority, and we dedicate many hours to making the course as safe as possible. The Salt Lake City Sheriff's Department will be stationed along the course, which will be closed to vehicle traffic. However, no street is completely closed. You will be running through residential neighborhoods on streets open to the public.

Drivers can make mistakes, so be aware of your surroundings. You must assume responsibility for your own safety at all times. We recommend running without headphones. Our race course is beautiful and scenic, so we suggest you enjoy it and take in the sights, smells, and sounds of the course.

Do participants receive a finishing medal?

Registered runners of all races wearing the proper race bib on their front will receive a finisher's medal after successfully completing the race, crossing the finish line, and picking up their medal at the medal distribution location.

Do you allow strollers?

No. Strollers will not be permitted on the race course for the safety of all participants.

Can I bring my dog?

No. With thousands of people at this event, we ask that you please leave your dog at home for the safety of your dog and other runners.

Please note that service dogs are allowed, but no other dogs will be allowed for the safety and comfort of all participants.

What do I need to bring to packet pick up?

You must present the barcode and confirmation number on your registration confirmation email in order to pick up your race packet. Please have this information ready to show, either digitally or printed. If you don't have your email confirmation, you must present a government-issued photo ID in order to claim your items.

Can someone else pick up my race packet and goodie bag?

Yes. Someone else can pick up your items at pre-race pickup.

For someone else to pick up your items, your designated person must present the barcode on your Registration Confirmation Email. Your designated person should have the barcode on the email ready to show (either digital or printed is acceptable). Your designated person will be solely responsible for your items.

On race day, you must pick up your items yourself.

Where do I pick up my packet?

Early Pick-Up:

Wednesday, July 26, 2023

11 a.m.–7 p.m. at:

Salt Palace Convention Center

100 S West Temple, Salt Lake City, UT 84101

Race Day Pick-Up:

Where should I park?

Please plan ahead and review the list of recommended parking. You should also be prepared to find another lot if your first or second choice is full. Parking is available west of the park on top of the hill next to the Capitol Building. There is also neighborhood street parking near the entrance of the park, but it will be limited. Please plan ahead and arrive early!

Is there a Gear/Bag Check?

Gear Check is at Memory Grove Park next to the Registration Tent.

Gear Check closes 15 minutes before the start of your race. All bags must be picked up by 10:15 a.m. on race day.

Where are the toilets?

Portable toilets are located at Memory Grove Park (just north of the start line along the sidewalk).

Where is the start?

Memory Grove Park

Where is the finish?

Both races will finish at the same place as the start, in beautiful Memory Grove Park.

Where do I attach the timing tag?

This race uses bib-tag timing, a technology where the timing device is attached to the race bib. Timing tags must remain attached to the back of your race bib. Do not remove the timing device or bend your race bib!

To be timed, you must wear your race bib (with timing tag attached) on the front of your body (not covered by any clothing or accessories) and cross the start and finish line mats. To have your personal net time (computerized tag time) calculated, you must cross the mats at both the start and finish lines.

Where do I wear my race bib (race number)?

Your race bib must be visible and fastened to the front of your body. Do not pin your bib to your back. Your race bib identifies you to various parties, including race officials, timing officials, police, traffic control, and photographers, and carries your timing device.

Is there a race photographer?

Yes. Check the race website after the race for instructions on finding photos. You must wear your race bib on your front to be identified and searchable in the race photos.

What should I do if I need medical assistance during the race?

If you require medical assistance during the race, please notify a race official, volunteer, or police officer along the course. They will help you get the necessary medical attention. There will also be medical personnel and first aid stations at various points along the course and at the finish area.

What are the age group categories for awards?

Awards will be given to the top three male and female finishers in the following age groups: under 15, 15–19, 20–29, 30–39, 40–49, 50–59, 60–69, 70 and over.

The team with the most donations will also receive an award.

When and where is the awards ceremony?

The awards ceremony will take place at Memory Grove Park after the races. The exact time and location will be announced on race day. Please listen for announcements and check the race website for updates.

Are there water stations along the course?

Yes, there will be water stations along the course. Please be sure to stay hydrated during the race.

Will there be a lost and found area?

Yes, there will be a lost and found area at the Registration Tent in Memory Grove Park. Any unclaimed items will be held for 30 days after the race, after which they will be donated to charity. Please contact 10Year10K@youniqueproducts.com to inquire about lost items after the race.

Is there a designated area for spectators?

Yes, there are designated areas along the course and at the finish line for spectators. Please encourage your friends and family to come out and support the runners. Remember to respect the race course and the surrounding environment, and follow any instructions given by race officials and volunteers.

Fee?

I want to find out the registration fee to see if I can afford it before I register but it doesn’t seem to be anywhere in the FAQ or home page. I’m also curious if there are fundraising requirements for the race to know whether or not I will be able to meet those goals.
