Juneau Marathon and Half-Marathon

The Juneau Marathon and Half-Marathon courses are conducted on rolling, USATF-certified courses on Douglas and North Douglas Highways on Douglas Island (across Gastineau Channel from Juneau, Alaska). Please note that our course certification expired 12/31/2024; but we will get it re-measured, and re-certified before race day.

Event start times:

Early Marathon 6 a.m. (not eligible for age/category awards)

Marathon 7 a.m.

Half-Marathon 9 a.m.

Awards ceremonies: TBD

New in 2025 - Sportstats will be timing this event with chip timers. Live tracking will be available on the Sportstats App. Online and onsite results will be available.

The Juneau Marathon is a qualifying event for the Boston Marathon.

Both distances are part of the RRCA State Championship Event Series.

RRCA provides 1st place medals for: Open (39 and under) male and female, 40-49 male and female, 50-59 male and female, 60+ male and female, adaptive athlete male and female, and nonbinary.

JTRR provides the following awards for each distance:

Trophies for top male and female 

1st, 2nd, and 3rd place medals for: Open (39 and under) male and female, 40-49 male and female, 50-59 male and female, 60 - 69 male and female, 70+ male and female, and nonbinary

1st place medals for adaptive athlete male and female (Please contact the race director, David Epstein at dave1013@gmail.com for information on registering for this category.)

All finishers will receive a finisher's medal

All registrants will receive an event technical shirt. However, sizing is only guaranteed if registered by May 1. Registrations after this date risk the possibility of not receiving the correct size, or even a shirt for this year's event.

The marathon course features scenic water views and a stunning vista of Mendenhall Glacier.  Not too many other races in the USA can lay claim to that aspect!
