Mark the Barber's Polar Run Race Description

Join us on January 12, 2020 for Mark the Barber's 5K run/walk and 1 run/mile walk. The event will be run through the streets of Sandusky and finish on the Diamond Trail. Packet pick up and awards ceremony will take place inside Maple Valley Elementary School, 138 Maple Valley St. (In the event of any Covid-19 restrictions, we will use the pavilion at the Diamond Trail for all race activities).

All participants will receive a Long Sleeve Tech shirt and finisher medal. Age group awards will also be given out after 5k race. This is a fundraiser sponsored by Right to Life of Sanilac County to raise funds for Operation Underground Railroad. We will have swag bags at the race for all participants.

This year Mark chose to raise funds for Operation Underground Railroad. Mark has a heart for kids and wanted to help a cause that deals directly with the care of exploited children. O.U.R. exists to rescue children from sex trafficking and sexual exploitation. From their website: Once being founded in December 2013, we've gathered the world's experts in extraction operations and in anti-child trafficking efforts to bring an end to child slavery. O.U.R.'s Ops Team consists of former CIA, past and current law enforcement, and highly skilled operatives that lead coordinated identification and extraction efforts. These operations are always in conjunction with law enforcement throughout the world. Once victims are rescued, a comprehensive process involving justice for the perpetrators and recovery and rehabilitation for the survivors begins. It is time for private citizens and organizations to rise up and help. It is our duty as a free and blessed people.

TIME: 2:00 p.m. - 1 Mile Run/Walk and 5K Run/Walk. Both begin at the same time.

REGISTRATION: Early Bird fee is $20; good until 12-1-20, after that the registration fee is $25 per person. Same Day Registration is $30 and will begin at 1:00 p.m.

There is also a virtual event for only $20. If you want to participate virtually you can. Run or walk the 1 mile or do a 5K anytime to support this great cause. You will not receive any swag, so no shirt, no medal. We are doing this so more money can go to Operation Underground Railroad. If you want a shirt, please contact Mark or Amy or send an inquiry to the race director. You will need to make arrangements to pick up your shirt in Sandusky at Mark's Barber Shop. We will not be mailing anything in order to save money.

COURSE: The 1 mile course will be on the paved Diamond Trail. The 5K course will utilize the Diamond Trail and city streets, with some dirt roads.

REFRESHMENTS: Water and Hot Chocolate with snacks will be available at the awards ceremony.
