Mountain View Corridor and Westfest 5k/Walk

WHEN: Wednesday, June 16, 2021

TIME: 6:30 p.m. short ceremony followed immediately by a 5K Fun Run and 1 mile Walk

WHERE: On the Mountain View Corridor at 3500 South and approximately 5800 West

ENTRY: Free (first 200 registrations will receive an entry prize and gift bag)

Come run on the extension of Mountain View Corridor (MVC) before it opens to traffic. On the evening of June 16, UDOT, in partnership with West Valley City, will hold a community fun run and walk to kick off WestFest and celebrate the new four mile extension from 4100 South to S.R. 201. MVC will open to traffic the morning of June 17, the first time the roadway connects to a major east/west freeway. With the new extension, MVC will consist of 21 miles of roadway and trails from 16000 South to S.R. 201.

PARKING

Parking for the event will be on the northbound lanes of MVC at 3500 South and approximately 5800 West. Additional parking and a shuttle service to the start line will be available at the UTA Park and Ride lot located at 5551 West 3500 South, West Valley City. Please follow the directional signs posted in the area. Due to the limited parking spaces available, we encourage participants who live in the area to walk to the event or carpool.

SIGN IN PROCEDURE

If you registered online for the race, there will not be any additional requirements the day of the race. Participants who have not signed up prior to the day of the event—but would like to participate—will need to go to the “Waiver Sign In” table to register. Please allow yourself additional time prior to the start of the race to sign up. The “Waiver Sign In” table will be located on the Mountain View Corridor near 2700 South. The event will be limited to 1,000 participants.

The first 200 registrants who will receive an entry prize and gift bag will be emailed prior to the event with instructions on how and where to pick up the bag.

SCHEDULE OF EVENTS

Waiver sign in will start at 5:45 p.m.

The Community Celebration will start at 6:30 p.m. with a brief ceremony. The fun run and walk will start immediately after.

START LINE

The starting line will be on the northbound lanes of the Mountain View Corridor at approximately 2700 South. You may access this area by walking from 3500 South, along the NB lanes towards 2700 South.
