Pirate Alumni 5K Race Description
The ECU Alumni Association presents the eleventh annual Pirate Alumni Road Race and Fun Run! Join fellow alumni and friends as we race to raise funds for ECU scholarships. Runners of all ages will enjoy the 5K road race or one-mile fun run.
About Our Race
All proceeds from the Pirate Alumni Road Race and Fun Run benefit ECU Alumni Association scholarship fund. The alumni association annually awards scholarships to qualified undergraduates for the following academic year. To date, the alumni association has awarded 252 scholarships totaling nearly $350,000.
Date & Time
Saturday, April 21, 2018. The 5K road race begins at 8:00 a.m.; the 1M fun run begins promptly at 8:10 a.m. The road race will take place rain or shine.
Location
The start area is located at U.B.E. at the corner of Cotanche Street and Reade Circle.
Registration
The entry fee for the road race or fun run is $20 through Feb. 28, $25 March 1-April 20, and $30 on race day. Registration on race day begins at 7:00 a.m. Registrations received prior to Friday, March 29 will be guaranteed a race T-shirt.
The maximum number of participants is 700. Registration will close at 700 participants, which may occur before race day. Advance registration is strongly encouraged.

Sleep In for Scholarships
Not a morning person? Out of town the day of the Pirate Alumni Road Race? Can’t get a sitter for the kids? For those who prefer to snooze rather than lace up their running shoes, sign up for the “Sleep In for Scholarships” option of the Pirate Alumni Road Race and help raise scholarship funds from home or wherever you’ll be on April 21! Support the alumni association scholarship program from the comfort of your own bed and still have an impact on ECU students.
Participants who register for this program will receive a Pirate Alumni Road Race t-shirt and, best of all, everything will be mailed to you. Deadline to be guaranteed a t-shirt in your size is March 29.
Register as a “Sleep In” participant, by choosing “Sleep In for Scholarships" option, and follow the steps to complete the form, and select "Sleep In" as your participation type.

Check-in
Each participant will receive a packet containing an event T-shirt and number bib with timing chip at check-in, which will begin at 7:00 a.m. on race day. Check-in can also be completed Friday, April 20, the day before the race, from 11:30 - 5:00 p.m. at U.B.E.
Awards
Awards will be presented to the first three male finishers overall, to the first three female finishers overall, and the top three male and female finishers in each of the age groups below. No awards will be presented to fun run participants.
