Bird Walk 4 Recovery Race Description

Plans for our 2nd Annual 5K Bird Walk for Recovery are underway

Last year you helped us build the walk - with over 100 participants.

 Let's Top that this year!

We know we can do it with your help.

WHAT?

The 5K Bird Walk for Recovery celebrates the recovery community and agencies that provide 'boots on the ground' support and services for people in recovery.

The 5K Bird Walk for Recovery exists to challenge addiction related stigma, encourage, empower and educate people in recovery, their friends and family.

WHEN?

The 5K Bird Walk for Recovery takes place on Saturday September 2, 2017 at Gleason Park, Gary Indiana.

Walkers will gather at the Club House for check-in/on-site registration and the pre-walk expo.

WHO?

Anyone who wishes to show support for people in recovery can walk.

Walk for a friend or for a family member.

Walk for someone who did not survive their addiction.

WHY?

Because addiction affects everyone - but so does recovery

The 5K Bird Walk For Recovery is a tribute to my son Seneca 'Bird' Gibbs who passed away

on August 22, 2015 from complications related to a substance use disorder.

It is Seneca's life and his death that inspires this walk.

Advance registration for our September 2 event is not required, but it is encouraged.

Register to receive updates on the day's events, and learn about volunteer and outreach opportunities.

Net proceeds from the 5K Bird Walk for Recovery will be donated to a local charity to support their recovery efforts.

Bird Walk 4 Recovery

This is an awesome walk for all to participate in; either we know someone with substance abuse or have suffered ourselves. My daughter and I attended last year and our only regret was that the rest of our family was not there to walk with us. 9.2.17 will be different. Look out for our team "The Flock"; we are excited about supporting efforts to stamp out Substance Abuse and to carry on the legacy of Mr. Seneca "[Baby] Bird" Gibbs, alongside his beautiful family. #tragedy.into.triumph
