Pilot Butte Challenge Race Description

The Pilot Butte Challenge (PBC) is an exhilarating 1-mile walk or sprint up the Butte. It's a casual hike for some, a grueling race for others, and everything in between. For everyone, it's an opportunity to achieve a personal record (PR). All ages and abilities are welcome (ages 4 to 99 last year). Some of the world's best runners participate beside folks walking to the top for their first time. There's nothing like the PBC anywhere! Race medals are awarded three deep in over 37 age/gender categories. Medalists are listed on the legendary record boards in the park. NEW: Everyone gets a finishing medal thanks to Bend Heating. Enjoy family friendly pricing. The scenic course winds its way along the Nature Trail to the volcanic top nearly 500 feet above. The PBC is a community event--Bend's finest companies make it happen. Proceeds from fees, fundraisers, and donations will be used to help rebuild the fitness area that burned down in the fire last July.

My first race

I love Pilot Butte and now I love this race. Somehow I made it on the record board at the trailhead. I'm training now for 2016.
