About National Alliance of Mental Illness
Founded locally in 1986, NAMI Southeast Minnesota is an affiliate of NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness), the nation’s largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to building better lives for the millions of people affected by mental illness. Their mission is to improve mental wellness through listening, advocating, informing and leading. They work in 7 counties in southeast Minnesota: Dodge, Fillmore, Goodhue, Houston, Mower, Olmsted and Wabasha.
Their staff and volunteers are comprised of people with mental illness, family members and professionals. NAMI offers critical education, advocacy and support programs in the community at no charge to support the individual, their loved ones and the mental health care system.
They do this by working to eliminate the stigma associated with mental illness, encouraging those with mental illness to seek treatment, and advocating policies and practices that encourage the development of equitable, community-based mental health services which empower active recovery.
The Program for Underrepresented Communities is dedicated to developing support and resource initiatives for the diverse cultures and groups within our community. While considering ideological, religious, and cultural differences, we ensure the delivery of tailored resources that meet the unique needs of each individual.
NAMI Southeast Minnesota programs inspire hope — hope that you and your loved ones experience the fullest level of recovery possible.
