Run for Down Syndrome Race Description
In-Person Race Start times: 6:50 PM Kids Race, 7:00 PM 3K/5K/10K
The Run for Down Syndrome was started in 2009 by the running group 2FGR (Two Fat Guys Running), with the very modest goal to raise $5,000 in support of the Down syndrome community. Now going on its 16th year, the 2FGR Run for Down Syndrome donated over $45,000 in 2024 and over $510,000 in its first 15 years.
Starting in 2025, the event benefits the Down Syndrome Association of Central Ohio (DSACO), Team Heart & Sole, and Valemee Fitness.
DSACO’s mission is to support families, promote community, and encourage a lifetime of opportunities for people with Down syndrome. Proceeds raised at this event support DSACO’s wide range of programs and services for people with Down syndrome, including Community Access Funds which allow people with Down syndrome access to participate in inclusive programs in the community, and other initiatives such as DSACO’s iCan Bike Camp and Golf Academy.
Team Heart & Sole’s mission is to provide inclusive opportunities for individuals with disabilities, their families and friends, to participate in endurance racing events across Ohio, while building authentic relationships through teamwork.
Valemee fitness offers inclusive fitness training for anyone, including those with autism, Down syndrome, developmental delays, Prader Willi, neurological challenges and other unique challenges that are barriers to achieving optimal fitness and health. Valemee specializes in adapting exercises to the needs of each person.
