The rally to Get It Dunn started in 2011 as a way for friends and family of Amy Dunn to stand beside her as she fought a diagnosis of Stage IV melanoma. Get It Dunn became both a support system and a fundraising effort to help Amy receive and get through the treatment she needed. Just as importantly, and all too fittingly, Get It Dunn was also a mantra for Amy’s “give it all you’ve got” approach to living life. She gave her best and demanded the best from others. She got it done.
Today, we strive to embody the spirit of Getting It Dunn in our daily lives to honor and remember Amy. Since her passing, Amy’s family and friends have continued to Get It Dunn by promoting melanoma awareness and sun safety – primarily through our annual fun run, Run for Dunn.
ABOUT THE RUN - JUNE 2, 2024 @ 10:30AM
Run for Dunn is a fun, all ages, all abilities, 3-mile run/walk. As part of our sun safety mission, we have developed a partnership with dermatologists from Mountain Pine Dermatology and St. Luke’s Cancer Institute to offer free skin cancer screenings to all registered participants of Run for Dunn.
All participants receive free access to skin screenings, a Run for Dunn t-shirt, and lunch.
START AND FINISH
The course will follow the Boise Greenbelt and will start and finish at Kristin Armstrong Municipal Park - 500 S Walnut St, Boise, ID 83712. THIS IS A LOCATION CHANGE FROM PREVIOUS YEARS. Wonderful Cause!
Beautiful and fun approach to bringing awareness to a cause after a tragic outcome. Everyone involved with the event had a close relationship with Amy and every year continue to gather to celebrate her life, celebrate what would have been her birthday--which really highlights how special she was for such a continued effort over the years. A quick, lighthearted fun run that spans 1.5 mile out and back of the 25-mile greenbelt, in the morning on a Sunday--a great way to bring the community together in activity with a focus around Melanoma awareness. Early detection is key!
DANGEROUS, THOUGHTLESS planning
Horrible organization of course start and finish line. Participants and race crew blocked entire public greenbelt. Not only is that inconsiderate of the public, it is incredibly dangerous. No care or effort was made by event staff to create a safer route. Nor help usher participants off the greenbelt. Having a run on the greenbelt is one thing, but the start and finish line on the greenbelt with table directly on the greenbelt is another.
