Cold to the Bone Collector 10k/30k

The Black Hills Runners Club is thrilled to announce the Inaugural Cold to the Bone 10k/30k winter trail race, the kickoff to the 2025 trail series races and a great way to get ready for the Frozen Challenge starting in February.  Partipants will wind through the beautiful Black Hills on a 6.5 mile looped course on portions of the newly incorporated Shanks Trail system.  

Race Date: Saturday 1-25-2025
Registration: online only - closes at 12:00 p.m. on 1-24-2024
Race Time: 8:00 am
Location: Grave Digger Trailhead located just past the Y of Norris Peak Rd on the east side of the street.
Registration Fee: (use your member ID to get the BHRC discount)
    10k 16 and under:  free but no swag
    10K: $40.00
    30k 16 and under: free but no swag 
    30K: $80.00

Swag:
   All runners signed up on or before January 18, 2025 will receive a custom Cold to the Bone Collector limited edition hoodie and a really cool finisher medal.  First place for men and women will also receive a custom European mount trophy to commemorate your victory and stand as testament of taking the souls of your enemies on race day!

Directions:
 From Canyon Lake Park in Rapid City: go left on Jackson Blvd and travel west approx 9.7 miles then right on Norris Peak Rd then half mile to the parking area.
 From the west or north of Rapid City: Get on Hwy 385 then turn east on Hwy 44 then head toward Johnson Siding.  On the east side of J.S. turn north on Norris Peak Rd and continue approx 1.5 miles to the trailhead.

Course Discription: Runners will start up Grave Digger then run around Bone Collector and down Bone Up turning sharply onto South of Heaven where they will run back up to Bone Collector and down Grave Digger to he Start/Finish line.  10k participants will do a single loop and 30k participants will do three laps.  30k runners must start the third lap on or before 2:00pm.

Additional Info: There will be a single heated aid station located at the start/finish line.   Micro spikes are highly encouraged as the course may be icy or snow covered.
