Fun Race

It was well organized. There were plenty of porta-potties at the starting line and the aid stations at miles 3, 6, 9, 11, and 12. All the aid stations had water, gatorade, and GU. I didn't expect GU. I brought my own. I was annoyed that several runners threw empty GU packets on the trail, but maybe someone will pick them up. I just kept my empties in my pocket until I got to a trash bag at the next station. I put my warm clothes in my orange drop bag at the starting line and it was easy to find at the finish. There was a full lane of traffic blocked most of the course which is nice to find an even surface. Police and tough guys were directing traffic at the intersections so cars don’t break your pace. It rained the day before so water was flowing across the trail about 5 places. Enough to flow into your shoes. I rock hopped on the sides to avoid getting my feet wet. There’s a steep uphill between mile 2 and 3. Mostly downhill. The last 3 miles is mostly uphill. I liked that because downhill messes with my lumbar. I crushed my time goals and not a lot of back pain, so I'm thinking I'll go again next round.

Great race

Miles 3-6 are my favorite with the downhill! Awesome hot cocoa to buy with a souvenir cup at the finish!!

Good weather, route, and organization

I really enjoyed this race. Everything was well organized and it was nice to be bused to the top of course and race mostly downhill to Staheli Farm. I was impressed with all the support and law enforcement that allowed all runners to never have to stop even when crossing roads. The downhill through the canyon was spectacular on the paved trail. Great ending location on the farm!
