18 MARCH 2020 - RACE UPDATE:
Obviously we are dealing with some trying times around our communities with a bit of uncertainly, and with the latest round of best practices / closings coming from our elected officials, hasn’t made things easier on anyone. That being said, I think we have an opportunity to pull something positive from this current situation. In lieu of canceling this race, we have decided to go a different direction. Team GBC is creating a virtual race for the week of May 2nd.
The Specifics:
1. Given the current status around the country, we are sure there are some community members suffering more than most of us. With that, Team GBC will be making a monetary contribution from the race registration to a local charity or homeless shelter within the greater Greenville/Spartanburg area. We will be identifying that organization this week.
2. The Virtual Race: Between Sunday, April 26th and Saturday, May 2nd, merely run either a 5k or 10k, whichever you registered for, and post your race distance, location & time to the event facebook page.
3. At the conclusion of your run, please email our team with your results & mailing address so we can prepare to send out participation medals. We will notify all participants when the medals are being shipped out. Participation of the virtual race will conclude at 3pm on May 2nd. GBC will take care of all shipping costs.
Finally, We will be working closely with the venue to seek out another date for a Wicked event in the South Carolina region, albeit 2020 or beyond. You may also defer your free Atlanta entry to the future SC race. We will announce that date when possible.
