I race didn't have any swag (at least they provided a bag this time) The course is awful, the time was earlier which made it 85 degrees at the start. The race medals were from previous years left overs. We did the 10k and got 1st place but the medal was for first place in the 5k. The T-shirts where ugly purple and cotton tees to boot. Joe is the worst race director in existence and needs to walk away from these events. He is cheap and a terrible race director
Had so much fun!
I loved so many emails beforehand. But, packet pick up was not streamlined. Could the safety pins and timing strip already be on the bib? Or pins in a set of 4? There were so many walkers with strollers & wagons in the front it made the bridges very congested. At the end of the race everyone was standing at the finish line, there was no room to run through the arch. I ended up hitting several people. I was so excited for this race but I probably won't be running it again.
The reason we do not put chips on it early because it messes up the piles of bibs the chips are an 1/8 an inch thick and if we preladeled them they would be all over the place we have tired and this is the best system for this type of bib. We have used other bibs too but they do not read as well as these. Regarding the safety pins we do it this way because many racers do not want them or opt to use a race belt. I am not familiar with a race that safety pins all their bibs prior. We try to serve all our racers but confused at your pin request. Never been asked that. Part of the reason for the clutter at the start is that we have a lot of people. Even with a lot we ask strollers to stay to the back No one listens. Sorry you had a bad experience. Most understand it is a fun race and they do not expect to pr it we offer timing as an extra plus for those interested. We will try to do a better job moving strollers to the back
This was a great race. It was a little hectic at the initial start, trying to get through the tunnel/onto the trail, but overall I really enjoyed running at night and the course.
We are going to try to stage everyone by their estimated finish time so the slower racers at the start will be in the back.
Well organized event that brings the community and families together. Great opportunity to put together a fab witches costume for the run! Race is chipped, course is flat and fast. Wonderful taco vendor at this race - best tacos I have ever had! Fun date night - can’t wait until the next race!!
Had a blast on this run. My only recommendation would be to either have the course be one-way or to ban the use of the profoundly bright headlamps. Those of us in the back of the pack were continuously blinded by the headlights of faster runners.
